The alarm

Once in a while, you just need to be in the right spot at the right time. This happened to me in April of 2023. I was riding my bike on the island of Mallorca. It was a fine and really quiet morning. Suddenly my Garmin GPS started beeping and gave me a ‘Marine weather warning’. I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this and finished my ride as planned.

The storm

Two hours later I caught a glimpse of the ocean from the restaurant of my hotel and realised what Garmin had been trying to tell me all along: The ocean was in uproar. The usual blue/ green color was gone and replaced by a threatening grey. The waves were huge. Lucky for me, there was hardly any wind and raced back to my room to grab my DJI Mavic Mini 2.
