In September 2021, La Palma’s Cumbre Vieja volcano erupted and didn’t stop for 85 days. Three years later, my wife and I walked through what it left behind — 7.5 kilometers of striking black volcanic landscape, dead trees, sulfur vents, and craters still breathing.
